I think it's going to be sunny tomorrow. (Prediction)
She's going (to go) to Cambridge University in two years.
BE CAREFUL!! TYPICAL MISTAKES
What do you do this evening? I go to do the shopping. WRONG
What are you doing this evening? I'm going to do the shopping. CORRECT
Present Continuous for future arrangements
- Use going to+ infinitive to talk about future plans or predictions.
I think it's going to be sunny tomorrow. (Prediction)
- You can omit 'to go' when you use 'going to'.
She's going (to go) to Cambridge University in two years.
BE CAREFUL!! TYPICAL MISTAKES
What do you do this evening? I go to do the shopping. WRONG
What are you doing this evening? I'm going to do the shopping. CORRECT
Present Continuous for future arrangements
- Going to and present continuous (future) are very similar and can often be used as alternative forms when we talk about plans and arrangements. Eg. What are you going to do tonight?/What are you doing tonight?
- GOING TO not the Present Continuous is used for predictions. Eg. I'm sure you're going to find a job NOT I'm sure you're finding a job.
- You can use the PRESENT CONTINUOUS for future arrangements (which are plans with a fixed time and place). Eg. I'm meeting Thomas at eight at the café.
- DON'T USE the Present Simple. Eg. I see my friends this evening. WRONG
- Common expressions: tomorrow, this week, next week, this weekend. And these verbs: go, come, see, leave, arrive, meet, etc.

My sister is going to get married (Her boyfriend has proposed her marriage. She's made the decision)
My sister is getting married on 5ht June (She has everything organized: day, place, menu, guests, etc.)

Look for/ look after/ look forward to
Look forward to- Remember that 'to' is a preposition, so after preposition write the verb in the gerund.
Eg. I look forward to visiting my family NOT I look forward to visit my family.
Eg. I look forward to visiting my family NOT I look forward to visit my family.
