2. GRAMMAR

Let's have a look at the top strange things people leave on planes:
INDEFINITE ARTICLE: a / an
Grammar notes:
- Singular nouns; a/ an

- Singular nouns; a/ an
- Not all the words beginning with a vowel have a vowel sound, for example there are some words which begin with u and are pronounced /ju:/, eg. university, so it's a university NOT an university.
- Sometimes a word that starts with a vowel sound has the consonant 'h' as the first letter. Only in 'hour' the 'h' is silent, so we say an hour.
- the
- We use 'the' to refer to something specific, eg. Look at the board, open the door, close the windows. We can use the with singular and plural nouns.
- There is a difference between 'a/an' and 'the'. Eg, What is it? It's a door (explaining what it is) and Open the door (talking about a specific door of the classroom).
